The latest Global Financial Centres Index published by the Qatar Finance Centre Authority and Long Finance (GFCI 17) found that both Dubai (overall rating down 6 at 688/1,000) and Abu Dhabi slightly lost competitiveness as international financial centres. Dubai is seen as a ‘global specialist’ centre (like Beijing, Geneva and Luxembourg), while Abu Dhabi is seen as a ‘transnational specialist’ centre (like Casablanca, Shenzhen and the BVI). Dubai and Abu Dhabi are, globally, ranked 23^rd and 26^th.
