Lausanne-based business school IMD said that, in its 2015 World Competitiveness Ranking, the UAE was in 12^th place overall, between Taiwan and Qatar. In the 2014 ranking, the UAE had been in eighth place. Qatar, by contrast, has risen six places and is ranked 13^th overall. Malaysia is the 14^th most competitive country.
