In its report ‘Globalisation and Competition: The New World of Cities’, Jones Lang LaSalle assessed a number of New World Cities. These are rich and globally connected cities with populations of 1-8mn and metropolitan economies of US$100-400bn or so. JLL looked at the ranking of 20 of these cities in terms of seven widely used indices for each of: investor friendliness, innovation, talent, liveability, brand numbers of conferences and numbers of visitors. Of the 20 cities considered, Seattle was in 13th place overall, with an average 16th percentile position across six of the indices.
