In its recently published report, China’s Cities, Savills noted that retail sales in Guangzhou in 2013 amounted to about CNY690bn and, by that measure, was the third largest metropolitan retail market in the country. Disposable income among urban households was approximately CNY42,000 per annum. GDP per capita was CNY120,000. In 2011, there were around 40mn domestic tourism arrivals and about 8mn international tourism arrivals.
