In its recently published report, China’s Cities, Savills noted that retail sales in Hangzhou in 2013 amounted to about CNY350bn and, by that measure, was the 11th largest metropolitan retail market in the country. Disposable income among urban households was approximately CNY39,000 per annum. GDP per capita was CNY95,000. In 2011, there were around 70mn domestic tourism arrivals and about 3mn international tourism arrivals.
