A report by TH Real Estate, ‘THINK: China’, notes that trading conditions have been challenging for some of Shanghai’s shopping malls. However, the report argues that there are some opportunities for malls in the suburbs of Shanghai, whose populations have been growing rapidly thanks to the improvement in infrastructure. The movement of fast fashion retailers to some suburban malls has generated upwards pressure on rents in those centres.
