ULI: London needs to increase population density to generate capacity for further growth.

TrendTracker_2

In its research paper, ‘The Density Dividend: solutions for growing and shrinking cities’, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) argues that the main reason why London should increase its population density is its need to achieve greater capacity for growth. The city needs more residential and commercial property to meet the lifestyle demands of inhabitants and the new needs of corporates. Challenges include the residents’ association of the concept of density with public housing tower blocks. There are also concerns about affordability and congestion.
