In its third annual City Momentum Index (CMI) ranking, Jones Lang LaSalle found that Silicon Valley was the city that, overall, has the second most dynamic urban economy and that is adapting most rapidly to technological and infrastructural transformation. The CMI analysis considers 37 variables across 10 topics in relation to socio-economic momentum, commercial real estate momentum and ‘high-value incubators (higher education facilities, patent applications etc.). Transformational projects and policies underway in Silicon Valley that were highlighted by JLL included greater densification and transit-oriented development, as well as the extension of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) network.
