JLL: Hong Kong is ranked second in terms of its Cross-Border Retailer Attractiveness Index

In its Destination Retail report, JLL noted that Hong Kong has a Cross-Border Retailer Attractiveness Index of 210 and is ranked second overall. The report is based on a survey of 240 leading retail brands across 140 cities globally. The cities account for 36% of global GDP, 13% of the world’s population and one third of the world’s consumer spending. The index shows, for each case, the presence of retailers, relative to the average of 100. Hong Kong is classified as a Global Retail City. Growth of spending in 2015-19 is expected to be 2.8% annually. Average prime retail rents are around USD20,000 per square metre per annum.
