In its recently published report, China’s Cities, Savills noted that retail sales in Nanjing in 2013 amounted to about CNY350bn and, by that measure, was the tenth largest metropolitan retail market in the country. Disposable income among urban households was approximately CNY38,000 per annum. GDP per capita was CNY95,000. In 2011, there were around 70mn domestic tourism arrivals and about 1.5mn international tourism arrivals.
