UK: Buying a home in the South is leaving buyers ‘submerged in debt’, Moody’s warns

"Higher property prices and stagnant incomes are leaving house buyers in the south of England increasingly submerged in debt compared to their northern counterparts, Moody's Investor Service has warned.

Research carried out by the credit ratings agency found those who bought a home in the south of England over the past two years have borrowed up to 30pc more in proportion to their incomes than those in the North, despite higher average salaries."
